About
CEP Local 401
Representing frontline workers of Bell Aliant in
Prince Edward Island, the Communications Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP) Local 401 strives to provide just
and safe working conditions for its members and promote progressive economic, social, political, and cultural
interests in the community. With members working and living in all parts of the Island - from "Up West"
to "Down East" and every point in between - CEP Local 401 greatly appreciates its ties to Canada's
smallest (but mightiest) province.
CEP Local 401 holds a seat on the CEP Atlantic Communications
Council (CEPACC) which is the recognized agent for purposes of collective bargaining. CEPACC consists of members from
our sister Locals who share Bell Aliant as employer and represent each province of Atlantic Canada - namely CEP Local
410 (Newfoundland & Labrador), CEP Local 2289 (Nova Scotia) and CEP Local 506 (New Brunswick).
CEP Local
401 is proud to be associated with a Canadian national union that spans a wide variety of workplaces
and trades. CEP brings together a tremendous amount of experience in the labour movement and targets its energy in
bargaining for fair wages, job security, pensions, and benefits that strengthen working families and the communities
they live in. CEP is also devoted to lobbying all levels of government to develop forward-looking policies
and laws to help every Canadian - be they of working age or not.
As an associate of the Canadian
Labour Congress (CLC), the largest democratic and popular organization in Canada with over three million members,
CEP is able to advance relationships with workers in both the private-sector and public-sector and create a network of activists from
coast-to-coast-to-coast.
On PEI, CEP Local 401 has a seat on the Executive Board of the Prince Edward Island
Federation of Labour (PEIFL), the sole central labour body in the province, representing approximately ten
thousand union members and a powerful voice for all workers. An active vehicle to address the concerns of
the Island workforce, the PEIFL is a chartered body of the CLC.
CEP Local 401 invites all workers to
explore their rights of association by contacting any and all of the organizations listed above.
In
Solidarity,
CEP Local 401 Executive Board.
